Join the Youth, Teen and Adult Summer Reading Programs at the Library!

Youth Summer Reading Program (June 4 – July 31)
Mission Read: To the Library and Beyond

The Library invites galactic explorers ages 11 and under to blast off with its Summer Reading Program and return home with fabulous prizes.  Registration begins Monday, June 4.  The Library will award the mission’s first prizes Monday, June 11.  The program will conclude Tuesday, July 31.

  • “Cadets” – children who do not yet read on their own but still have “The Right Stuff” will participate in the Read With Me program.  After signing up, they will read, or listen to, a total of 30 books and make three “check-in” visits to the Library in order to receive prizes.  Learn more about special Baby/Toddler program prizes at the Youth Services Desk.

  • “Captains” – children who read on their own – will take part in the I Read program.  Participants will read for a total of 15 hours and then pick up prizes during each of three visits to the Library.  Cadets and Captains who complete the program will receive a free book.

Cadets and Captains who complete the program will receive a free book.

The Library has partnered with the Daily Herald to offer participants a variety of coupons as incentives for reading.  Program participants are also invited to explore the Youth Services Department each day and find the Hidden Constellation Map.  The first person to find the map will win a prize.

Cadets who have completed 30 books, and Captains who have read for 15 hours, become eligible to guess how many items are contained in the program’s treasure-filled Time Capsule.  The one who guesses correctly gets to take it home!  Register in person at the Library.  For more information, call 847/253-5675.

Teen Summer Reading Program (June 4 – July 31)
Infinity and Beyond: Let the Force Read With You

Exploration has its rewards: chances to win gift cards to favorite stores and more!  Complete the program by July 31 and pick up a stellar prize, plus a chance to win the grand prize.  Register in person at the Library.  For more information, call 847/253-5675.

Adult Summer Reading Program (June 4 – August 12)
