MPPL Welcomes Author Eric Rohmann (June 27)

Children’s book author and illustrator Eric Rohmann will visit the Library Wednesday, June 27, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., to discuss his writing, demonstrate his art, and autograph copies of his books.  During his career, Rohmann has been recognized with the prestigious Caldecott Award and a Caldecott Honor.  He is also the official illustrator for the Illinois Library Association’s Summer Reading Program, Mission Read: To the Library and Beyond. Beaches, Blue Water, and Blueberries: Michigan Beach Towns (June 26)

Guests to the beach towns of western Michigan will find sailboats, towering sand dunes, sunsets, lighthouses, and fresh blueberries.  Join Nancy McCully Tuesday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. for a discussion of Michigan's rich history, and view gorgeous photos of the longest stretch of freshwater beach in the world.  Register online or call 847/253-5675.

Super Saturday (June 16) - Thaddeus Rex Rocks MPPL

The Library kicks off this year’s Summer Reading Program with a featured performance by Thaddeus Rex, the “rock star who reads,” Saturday, June 16, 11 – 11:45 a.m.  Chicago-based Thaddeus Rex performs more than 200 shows each year, helping children use their imaginations and encouraging them to pick up a book.  The Washington Post calls his performances, which blend the energy of rock with the sensibility of folk, “part Monty Python, part Dr. Seuss.”  Register online or call 847/253-5675.

Sister Cities French Festival (July 12)

Thursday, July 12, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Bring the family for a festive celebration in honor of Mount Prospect's Sister City of Sèvres, France.  The Library will provide stories, songs, and a craft with a French flair.  Language Stars of Arlington Heights will help deliver the fun! Plus, Capannari's Ice Cream will create a special flavor for the occasion.  free ice cream? C'est Magnifique! Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission hosts this program.
