Composting with worms, also known as vermiculture, is a simple, clean, and odorless way to recycle kitchen waste. You can use worm composting in your house or apartment to harness the natural wisdom and efficiency of red worms, thus reducing the amount of garbage being sent to landfills and nurturing the symbiotic relationship between the earth and all of its living beings. During this program, an Urban Worm Girl representative will show you how a pound of hungry worms fed kitchen scraps, such as egg shells and paper towels, will provide you with nutrient-rich fertilizer. Return your goodness to the earth, minimize your waste, and feed your garden, houseplants, and the earth with this easy way to go green. Register Online or call 847/253-5675.

From our rambling El trains to our distinctive skyline, Hollywood loves Chicago. See how the Windy City has been immortalized in such films as The Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, In the Good Old Summertime, The Fugitive, and The Untouchables. In fact, Chicago's history of filmmaking is almost as old as movies themselves. The first motion picture camera was manufactured around 1895, and, by 1897, William Selig, a former magician, was producing and showing films in Chicago. Steve Frenzel, film historian, will discuss the challenges of filming in one of the greatest cities in the world and share fun facts and trivia about Chicago and the movies filmed here.
