Training to Be Top Dog: Guiding Your Pet to Good Behavior (Tuesday - November 10, 7:30 P.M.)
Alex Brooks is a regular columnist for a major newspaper and a frequent guest on Comcast Cable TV’s “Contempo” show. He has trained dogs for famous athletes, including Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, as well as the K-9 units of several police departments. In his spare time, Brooks volunteers his expertise to animal shelters by training stray and abandoned dogs to become more adoptable. He also trains dogs to help the physically challenged gain improved freedom, independence, and quality of life.
This program is for pet owners. Please leave your dogs at home.

From Spacious Skies to Purple Mountains Majesty: Traveling to 3 National Parks

Intrepid traveler John Lynn will share his 600-mile mountain biking adventure from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to West Glacier, Montana – including Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. Along the way, he will take you to small-town America, American Indian Reservations, popular tourist sites, and roads less traveled.
John, a Chicago area native with a degree in history, has personally hiked, bicycled, and canoed nearly 25,000 miles of historic and scenic routes in North America and the British Isles. This program is part of our Annual Cultural Series.

Get Your Kicks on Route 66 (Tuesday, October 6, 7:30 P.M.)
Arguably the most famous highway in the world, Route 66 has played a major role in U.S. history from the time of the Great Depression through today, where it still serves as a way to see America by car. This lively presentation by author Dave Clark includes music, a virtual tour from Chicago to LA, and little-known facts about this historic highway called by a variety of names, including Will Rogers Highway, the Mother Road, and the Main Street of America. Follow trails first blazed by Native American footpaths, 19th century canals, and railroad trunk lines. Learn how the highway was built, why it started in Chicago, and how the Interstate Highway System brought about the demise of Route 66. This program is part of our Annual Cultural Series Series.
