Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick

Drums, Girls... Do you have a sibling or family member that can sometimes annoy you? All of us have one. In Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick, thirteen year old Steven is constantly embarrassed and hassled by his adorable brother Jeffrey. Jeffrey often tells Steven's friends and crushes about some of Steven's drum techniques (waving drumsticks in front of the bathroom mirror in his blue underwear) and he also makes "Dangerous Pie" using Steven's drumsticks. Despite Jeffrey's tormenting habits, Steven loves his five-year old brother just the same. Everything carries on as usual. At least until October. That month, the family discovers that Jeffrey has leukemia, a form of cancer. As his parents struggle to pay the ridiculously high medical bills, Steven attempts to keep his emotions under control. This novel is an inspiring tale of the ordeal of cancer and the extreme importance of  hope and loyalty to the ones you love. I highly recommend this book.
